Save the 388 (Meltham - Huddersfield Royal Infirmary) bus

Save the 388 (Meltham - Huddersfield Royal Infirmary) bus
The Issue
The 388 bus links the communities of Meltham - Helme - Linthwaite - Minsbridge - Paddock - Lindley and offers a direct route for people in those areas to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. It also offers an additional route towards Huddersfield New College from those areas.
It is a rare and much-valued cross-country service that links communities across the Holme & Colne Valleys, without the need to travel in and out of Huddersfield.
The route has now been cancelled - due to national/ West Yorkshire funding issues.
This petition will be presented to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to demonstrate that is is a well-loved bus service, serving a vital role.
Withdrawing the service will especially impact on people who are vulnerable, elderly, disabled and buggy users. In some cases, there are no alternative bus services within easy walking distance for and so residents without cars could potentially be stranded and forced to travel by taxi etc.
The West Yorkshire Combined Authority must seek to gain funding and work with bus operators to reinstate this route.
