Moore- Roundtree, organizer of The Pulaski County Health and Wellbeing Coalition,Initiative.  I am urgently reaching out to you because Taylor Regional Hospital, a vital healthcare institution in Hawkinsville, GA, is facing severe administrative and financial instability. As the only trauma level 3 rural hospital serving our community, Taylor Regional Hospital provides essential medical services to thousands of residents. The repercussions of its closure would be catastrophic, leaving countless individuals without access to critical healthcare.

Hawkinsville and its surrounding areas rely heavily on the comprehensive services offered by Taylor Regional Hospital. From emergency care to specialized treatments, the hospital is a lifeline for many families. The recent disruption in Medicare and Medicaid payments after the hospital's redesignation has strained its operations, threatening its financial stability and long-term viability. Without immediate intervention, the closure of this hospital will lead to increased travel time for emergency services, affecting response times and putting lives at risk.

We must act now to restore full services and financial sustainability to Taylor Regional Hospital. We urge local and state government officials, healthcare authorities, and legislators to address this issue promptly. Immediate actions must include restoring and securing Medicare and Medicaid payments, offering financial aid packages to the hospital, and ensuring protective measures are in place to preserve its operational integrity.

Facts and statistics highlight the critical nature of this situation. According to recent reports, rural hospitals are critical in providing accessible care to communities, and the closure rate for these hospitals has accelerated over recent years. Losing Taylor Regional Hospital would not only impact access to healthcare for Hawkinsville residents but also exacerbate the ongoing rural healthcare crisis. We are demanding transparency and democracy in  plans for the hospital and  Pinewood Manor nursing home.
