Save Tampa Pride: Tell Leaders to Act Now
The Issue
Tampa Pride has been a celebration of love, resilience, and visibility for years. But now, the 2026 Tampa Pride Festival and Diversity Parade have been canceled due to what organizers call the “current political and economic climate.” That includes a sharp drop in public funding, reduced corporate sponsorships, and the dismantling of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs under Governor Ron DeSantis's leadership.
This isn’t just about a parade. It’s about the signal it sends to LGBTQ+ people in Tampa and across Florida: that there’s no room for us, no support, and no pride in our existence. We cannot accept that. We must not let fear, funding cuts, or political hostility erase one of Tampa’s most vital community traditions.
Pride isn’t optional—it’s necessary. And if corporations are too afraid to step up, then our city should. Local officials, including Mayor Jane Castor and the Tampa City Council, must immediately meet with Tampa Pride organizers to explore emergency funding options, city-sponsored partnerships, and logistical support to keep 2026 Pride alive.
We’ve seen what’s possible when communities show up. St. Pete Pride, facing the same headwinds, rallied with public support and creative funding to keep their events going strong. Tampa can do the same—but only if we refuse to stay silent.
We call on Tampa's city leadership, business community, and allies across Florida to step up now. Pride is more than a party—it’s a statement and promise of survival, visibility, and love.
Sign this petition to demand that Tampa city leaders work with Tampa Pride to restore and protect the 2026 Pride events.
Because you can’t cancel pride. Not here. Not now.
