The Issue

Swanton Novers is more than just a village to me—it's a community that my family calls home. Every morning, my little girl and I used to walk to the play park, a place where her imagination takes flight and joy fills our hearts. This park is not just a collection of swings and slides; it's where friendships are formed, laughter echoes, and memories are made.

But now, our beloved play park is under threat. Plans for its closure are underway, citing budget constraints and the need for new developments. However, this park is crucial for the well-being of our children and serves as a safe haven for parents and community members to come together.

According to the Royal Society for Public Health, green spaces are linked to improved physical and mental health outcomes. For our children, this play park is a vital resource for growth, exercise, and social interaction. In a world where digital screens dominate, our kids need outdoor spaces like these more than ever.

We propose forming a voluntary committee composed of local residents who are willing to dedicate time and effort to preserving and maintaining the play park. Fundraising initiatives can also be undertaken to supplement any financial shortfalls. With your help, we can present these solutions to our local council as viable alternatives to closure.

Help us keep Swanton Novers Play Park open for the joy and happiness of our children and future generations. Please sign this petition to show your support and help save a pivotal part of our community.
