Save Stretford's Pocket Park

Save Stretford's Pocket Park
The Issue
The pocket park has been a green space for as long as anyone can remember. Situated beside the train line off Moss Road, it forms part of an important railway wildlife corridor. Railway corridors are ecologically significant because they often contain older, undisturbed vegetation and support species that depend on mature trees, dense cover, and long‑established habitat structure. Features that are increasingly rare in urban areas. The land contains mature, established trees and provides a stable environment for local wildlife.
Great spotted woodpeckers are regularly seen here, one has even been photographed feeding beside the park. Residents have reported seeing birds of prey along the tree line. These species depend on features found only in long‑mature habitats. Such as old trees, deadwood, and established prey networks, none of which can be recreated by new planting.
Today, this green space is also a safe, contained area where children play, families picnic, and local people come to exercise, relax, and enjoy nature.
Trafford Council now plan to sell off this land. Please sign to show your support.
If you’re local, come and see the pocket park for yourself. It’s a hidden gem. Please help protect this vital green space for the wellbeing of Stretford residents.
