The Issue

Trafford Council is proposing to close St Teresa's RC Primary School in Stretford. We are urging our community to stand with us against this closure. Our school is so much more than just a physical structure; it is integral to the future of our children and the heart of our local community.

Our children thrive in the small, nurturing environment that St Teresa’s provides. Their friendship groups, trusted teachers, routines, and support systems cannot simply be replicated elsewhere. For many children, particularly those who struggle in larger settings, this school is exactly why they are flourishing academically and emotionally.

With the closure of St Teresa’s, all this could be lost. Our children would face disruptions in their education and social circles, impacting their development and well-being. The proposal overlooks the unique benefits provided by St Teresa's, disregarding the long-term effects on our children's lives.

The impact reaches beyond just education; as Catholic school, St Teresa’s also plays a vital role in the local faith community. Families specifically chose this school because of its Catholic values, smaller environment, and strong sense of care and belonging.

There is also deep concern for the staff, many of whom have dedicated decades of service to the school and local community.

Once a school is closed, the loss to a community is permanent.

We urge Trafford Council to reconsider this closure and explore other alternatives that maintain St Teresa's operational status.

We call on all who share our vision to fight for our children's brighter future. Please show your support by signing our petition to keep St Teresa’s RC Primary School open and thriving for generations to come.
