SAVE ST MAWES PHARMACY 2024
The Issue
UPDATE 25TH JANUARY 2024
ST MAWES PHARMACY NHS SERVICES TO CONTINUE!
The public meeting planned for Friday 26th January in St Mawes has been CANCELLED.
The organisers of the Save St Mawes Pharmacy 2024 campaign are delighted to announce that agreement to a revised contract has been reached between St Mawes Pharmacy and the NHS (Cornwall and Isles of Scilly) to continue offering all its existing NHS services.
We wish to sincerely thank everyone who supported the campaign, including the 1000+ signatories to the online and paper petitions achieved in less than a week.
The fantastic response shows how everyone agrees that a pharmacy is essential in St Mawes!

THE ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Dear Friends and Neighbours,
We are in danger of losing our local NHS pharmacy and its services from the Roseland peninsula.
WHY?
- Despite valiant efforts to improve local services, our pharmacist, Faisel Baig, is struggling to keep his business viable.
- Over the last eight years, his NHS core payments have been frozen while his costs have risen 30%.
- The contract that allows him to provide NHS dispensing and other vital services, such as face to face consultations (800 each year) plus vaccinations (800 each year), is due to end on 29 Mar 2024.
CONSEQUENCES
- There will be no NHS Community Pharmacy on the Roseland for a population of over 3000 residents. The next nearest NHS Pharmacy by road is a 40 mile round trip to Truro.
- We need to retain our NHS Pharmacy so that it can continue to work in partnership with our local GP practice.

WHAT YOU CAN DO?
Sign our Petition (once only please) to demonstrate the strength of community opinion to keep our local NHS Pharmacy.
“We, the undersigned, ask the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board to ensure that the Pharmacy Contracts Team negotiate a sustainable contract with St Mawes Pharmacy"
