Save St. Marks The Evangelist School
The Issue
Hello Community,
I am writing to strongly advocate for keeping St. Mark the Evangelist School open. For over 100 years, St. Mark’s has been an invaluable part of our community, providing quality education rooted in compassion, integrity, and academic excellence. Generations of families have entrusted the school with their children’s education, and its closure would not only be a loss to the immediate neighborhood but to many communities that rely on the exceptional care and guidance offered by the school’s dedicated staff.
Children from near and far travel to attend St. Mark’s because of the extraordinary level of care and compassion shown by the teachers. The faculty goes beyond standard educational duties to nurture each child’s growth, creating an environment where students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. These strong relationships between teachers and students have been a defining feature of the school and are a primary reason why families choose St. Mark’s over other educational options.
Over time, the students have formed deep, meaningful bonds with their peers—friendships built on shared experiences, mutual respect, and a supportive school culture. Closing the school would not only disrupt their education but also fracture these important social connections that play a critical role in the children’s emotional and social development.
While the school has faced challenges, there is strong belief within the community that St. Mark’s can flourish under new leadership. Fresh perspectives and renewed commitment to academic excellence and financial sustainability can revitalize the institution without sacrificing the caring environment that families have come to depend on. Leadership changes often bring much-needed innovation and renewed energy, and St. Mark’s is no exception.
Closing this historic school would be a disservice to the students, families, and the broader community that have long benefited from its presence. I urge you to consider the deep-rooted history of St. Mark’s, the unique bonds formed within its walls, and the potential for positive change under new leadership. Preserving St. Mark the Evangelist School ensures that future generations continue to experience the compassion, community, and quality education that have defined it for more than a century.
Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
St. Mark The Evangelist Parents
