The Issue

The administration at South Forsyth High School has announced that the school's FRC Team, 4112, will be disbanded next year due to lack of "program sustainability, staffing requirements, and supervision expectations". The Administration gave the following response for this arbitrary decision.

"After careful consideration of program sustainability, staffing requirements, and supervision expectations, the 2025-2026 school year will be the
final year that South Forsyth High School is able to offer the FIRST Robotics (FRC) Club. This decision was made with great care, recognizing the
passion, dedication, and accomplishments of our students.

We are proud of the work you have done and the skills you have developed through FIRST Robotics, and we sincerely thank you for your
commitment and representation of South Forsyth High School.

While FRC will conclude at the end of the 2025-2026 school year, students will continue to have access to robust, hands-on engineering and
robotics opportunities through our Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), including Technology Student Association (TSA) and
VEX Robotics"

The EagleBots are a tight-knit community founded in 2012 of over 50 students with 100+ alumni, 3x world qualifications, and 10+ supporting corporations. This club has taught its students real-life technical skills and leadership, lead to friendships and connections that will last a lifetime, and has changed the lives of many of its members. Many of our members have gone on to study at very rigorous schools and used the engineering and leadership they have received to enter the workforce as students. Our club is also the most demanding level of engineering and robotics that the school can offer its students, and for years, we have operated completely student led with little to no support from the school. All we ask is for our continued existence with the necessary support from the school administration.

Our team greatly benefits the school's CTAE/CTSO program. We have brought South Forsyth High School various accolades and awards including the Engineering Inspiration Award five times between 2023 and 2025, two State-level EI wins that qualified us for the World Championships in consecutive years. We have also been recognized for long-term impact and program stability, winning the Team Sustainability Award at the State level in both 2025 and 2026. Our technical strength is reflected in three Excellence in Engineering Awards at regional competitions from 2023 to 2025, as well as being named a Robot Finalist in the 2024 Regional. Most recently, we were honored with the Judges Award at the 2026 Regional, highlighting our continued growth, innovation, and potential within the STEM community.

The Eaglebots are committed to serving our community as well. Our team has made a real impact through outreach, mentorship, and service. We have connected with over 1,000 students across nine elementary and middle schools, and engaged more than 120 students through five workshops and a Winter STEM camp. We have supported three FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams for over 210 hours, which led to a first-place finish in competition, and mentored 16 VEX IQ teams for over 90 hours. Several of these teams qualified for the World Championships. We have also served as judges for nine FLL teams, spending more than 50 hours helping guide them to advance to Worlds. In addition to mentorship, we have volunteered at 13 high school events, reaching over 1,000 students, and contributed more than 690 hours to FRC, FLL, and VEX competitions. Our open lab initiative welcomed over 450 students through more than 80 unique STEM lessons during the summer and fall semesters. We have hosted three annual Women in STEM Summits and started a dedicated Instagram initiative, reaching over 450 women and increasing female participation on our team by 325% since 2023. We also created a robotics program for students with special needs, working with six programs, licensed therapists, and the Forsyth County Special Education Department. Our commitment to community service includes food and clothing drives, CTAE events, and three years of participation in the Lake Lanier Shore Sweep.
