Save Sol Doce Restaurant: A Gastronomic and Cultural Heritage of Santa Maria!

Sol Doce is not just a restaurant – it is a symbol of culture, tradition, and identity in Santa Maria, on Sal Island. Since 2001, this space, founded by Lurdes Nunes, has been serving lunches, standing out for the quality, freshness, and authenticity of its dishes.

Over the years, Sol Doce has played a key role in valuing local fishing and the products of our land, maintaining a strong connection with the city’s fishermen, who bring fresh fish to our table daily.

Today, Sol Doce faces a great threat: we risk being removed from our space, putting not only a family business at risk but also the jobs of several people and a place dear to both locals and tourists.

For over 20 years, Sol Doce has been a meeting point for different cultures, a place where hospitality is felt in every meal. Its removal would be an irreparable loss to Santa Maria.

What are we asking for?

We ask that the authorities and all those involved consider:

✅ The social, cultural, and economic importance of Sol Doce to Santa Maria;

✅ The continuity of a family business that has contributed to the local community for over two decades;

✅ The negative impact that removing the restaurant would have on the city, workers, and tourists who seek authentic experiences on Sal Island.

The restaurant is a landmark on Sal Island, welcoming not only the local population but also tourists from various parts of the world, serving as a place of gathering, gastronomy, and tradition. Its eventual eviction would be a significant loss for the community and tourism in the region.
