Save Shri Sammed Shikharji from pollution and neglect
The Issue
I humbly submit this request regarding Shri Sammed Shikharji (Parasnath Hills) in Giridih district, Jharkhand, the most sacred Moksh Tirth of the Jain community and a place of immense spiritual significance for millions of devotees across the world.
For Jains, Shri Sammed Shikharji is not merely a tourist destination but a holy place of worship, devotion, meditation, and pilgrimage. Devotees visit this sacred Tirth with deep faith and reverence.
However, many pilgrims are increasingly concerned that some visitors are treating this holy place as a recreational and picnic destination. Activities such as carrying and consuming food in sacred areas, littering, creating disturbances, and entering holy places with footwear are affecting the spiritual atmosphere and sanctity of the Tirth. Such actions deeply hurt the religious sentiments of Jain devotees and are contrary to the traditions associated with this sacred pilgrimage.
I respectfully request the Government to take appropriate measures to preserve and protect the sanctity of Shri Sammed Shikharji by:
- Ensuring strict adherence to the traditional religious norms and practices of the Tirth.
- Creating awareness among visitors regarding the sacred nature of the pilgrimage site.
- Preventing activities that are inconsistent with the spiritual and religious character of Shri Sammed Shikharji.
- Strengthening monitoring and enforcement mechanisms to maintain the dignity and purity of the holy site.
- Consulting Jain religious organizations and community representatives on measures required for the long-term protection of this sacred Moksh Tirth.
My request is made with respect towards all communities and solely for the purpose of preserving the sanctity, heritage, and religious significance of one of the holiest pilgrimage sites of Jain Dharma.
I sincerely hope that the Government will take necessary steps to ensure that Shri Sammed Shikharji remains protected and respected for future generations.
