Save Seaboard Train Station

The Issue

Please sign the petition below to ask the Raleigh City Council to require Turnbridge Equities to preserve the historic Seaboard Train Station in their zoning conditions for the parcel at 707 Semart Drive.

The historic train station originally opened in 1942 as a passenger and freight train depot, serving travelers until 1986. It sat abandoned until the Logan family purchased and restored the property as Logan's Garden Shop, which currently includes retail and dining space. The Logan family refused to allow the building to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places or as a local historic landmark, and sold it in December 2021 to Turnbridge Equities.

While Turnbridge representatives have been receptive to the idea of saving the building, condition 5C is still included in their final rezoning application. It would allow the developer to demolish the train station if in their discretion saving the station is not feasible. We are asking the Raleigh City Council to require Turnbridge to remove or reword that condition and save the station.

Don't allow Seaboard Train Station to be demolished---help us preserve this historic gateway at the north end of downtown. The current rezoning application will go to City Council on September 6, 2022.
