Save Saybrook University

Save Saybrook University
The Issue
Early reports indicate $500-$3,500 in missing funds per impacted student. For media and general inquiries, please email savesaybrook@gmail.com.
How it started...
Without warning or explanation, Saybrook University (part of the TCSED university system) has stopped applying to many students' financial accounts the $500-$2,000 per semester Presidential Scholarship that it marketed and awarded to us upon acceptance to the University.
Impact...
Initially, this problem created surprise and a sudden and unexpected financial burden for students. It has since been compounded with frustration and institutional mistrust. Now some students are incurring monthly late fees and blocked from registering for spring classes because of the balances on their accounts. Since they can't continue internship in the spring, some graduate level counseling students are facing having to unexpectedly terminate care of the patients they've been treating. Students are absolutely crushed and incredulous that a University which prides itself in advertising strong humanistic values of care, connection, and justice is functioning with such dishonesty and complete lack of accountability.
Failed Attempts at Resolution...
Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Interim President Robyn Parker, Vice President Karyn Browning, the Saybrook Board of Trustees, and TCSED Corporate Treasurer Jennifer Gantz have ignored, deflected, or provided conflicting and false information in response to months of phone calls, voicemails, and emails. Student requests for resolution have been met by Saybrook and TCSED administration with inaccessibility, evasion, lack of transparency and accountability, at least 5 different conflicting explanations, and falsified University documentation--everything but the actual scholarship $ the University promised. The University refuses to address this with school-wide communication. Instead, they are planning individual student meetings and have refused to provide requested copies of policies they say explain the missing scholarship funds.
Please help...
Students are stressed, frustrated, confused, and, frankly, sad. This isn’t the Saybrook we thought we knew, and these are not Saybrook's humanistic values in action. Please sign this petition to Save Saybrook and advocate to relieve students from the unprecedented financial, academic, and emotional burdens of this institutional abuse. The University must disburse the missing scholarship $$ as marketed and awarded to both current and graduated students, apologize, and commit to future institutional transparency and right action.
