BREAKING NEWS! On January 15th (day after I send you the last update) I received a email from Liz Bellas with information of an upcoming meeting on February 7th for the American River Parkway Advisory Committee at 9:30 a.m., Regional Parks Office, 10361 Rockingham Drive, Sacramento, CA 95827.
Bella's email states:
2025 Sailor Bar ADA Concept Plan:
The Department of Regional Parks has prepared a conceptual plan which would
develop fully accessible trails in Sailor Bar. This plan includes an accessible path
to a public viewing area from the River West gravel parking lot, and the
installation of a product called “Righthear” which is designed to meet the needs
of our blind and low-vision visitors by providing audio descriptions of the trail and
facility as well as directional, safety and interpretive signs.
PLEASE ATTEND THE FEBRUARY 7TH MEETING. We have reason to believe that reopening the roads to public motor vehicles is a part of her ADA Concept Plan. It's important that you hear The Director of Regional Parks. Your comments during this meeting are highly important. Even more important is just showing up.
This meeting is in addition to the other two meetings:
February 18th 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. Disability Advisory Commission (DAC) Public Meeting at 700 H Street.
February 27th 6:30 p.m. Park Commissioners Meeting. Location: Regional Park Headquarters 10361 Rockingham Drive, Sacramento.
I'll make it a priority to keep you informed. Thank to all of you who have signed the petition and working toward protecting the wildlife, environment, animals and humans at Sailor Bar from motor vehicle traffic. We fully support making Sailor Bar Accessible for people with and without disabilities. Everyone has a right to enjoy a stroll in nature, along the river without the intrusion of motor vehicles.
