Petition updateSave Sailor Bar from Motor Vehicle TrafficIT'S NOT OVER UNTIL IT'S OVER . . .

Thank you to those of you who showed up at Supervisor Desmond's "townhall" meeting.   It was appalling that our concerns about Sailor Bar were restricted, and our questions censored.  That is not the way our Government is supposed to work.  When I left the meeting, it was clear to me that Supervisor Desmond was planning on allowing public motor vehicle traffic in Sailor Bar regardless of the public outcry against it.

I have since learned that "it's not over until it's over".  As you recall, Supervisor Desmond promised me that he would honor my request to meet.  And he committed to all of us that, after he and I met, he would schedule a follow-up Town Hall meeting for the Friends of Sailor Bar.

Supervisor Desmond kept his word, and extended a meeting request for further discussion of Sailor Bar concerns.  The meeting is with Supervisor Desmond, Regional Parks Director Liz Bellas, County Counsel Elizabeth Pollock and Chief of Staff Vanessa MacCarthy-Olmstead.  Although this meeting is a private meeting, I am cautiously optimistic that he will keep his promise for a Friends of Sailor Bar townhall meeting.

Thank you for showing up and packing the room!  And thank you for being respectful.  If not for you, the upcoming meeting would likely not be on the calendar.  Your  just being there, and being respectful demonstrated to others that we are NOT a bunch of hysterical NIMBY's.  We made a positive impact for further dialog.

I'll keep you posted.  Feel free to email me, call or text if you want to discuss this further.  ProtectSailorBar@yahoo.com    916/837.4159
