Reminder: Dist. 3 Supv. Desmond is holding the first townhall meeting in Fair Oaks since the onset of our PROTECT SAILOR BAR campaign. Your showing up is critical to demonstrating we are still active and unified in our support of keeping motor vehicle traffic out of the interior of Sailor Bar. Thankfully, we have been successful in keeping the roads closed. However, there has been no indication that the County plans on keeping it closed. We are asking for an amendment to the American River Park Plan to designate the gravel roads as equestrian/hiking trails. This is the current use, and is consistent with the map shown on the Regional Parks website.
During a recent open house with Supv. Desmond, he said that he wants more people to visit Sailor Bar, and he was still under the impression that we were against more visitors. We said, "We are not against more people! It's the cars that we don't want!" Supv. Desmond was open to us identifying opportunities to attract more visitors to enjoy Sailor Bar (who respect nature) without the use of motor vehicles.
The townhall meeting is open for all topics, and is only an hour long, so opportunity for us to speak /ask questions may be limited, however, just showing up speaks volumes.
Let's keep it positive and let Supv. Desmond and the County Executive appointees know we appreciate this opportunity to be heard, and we, as a community want to keep Sailor Bar accessible to people, wildlife, horses, dogs, just not cars! There are many ways to bring more people (who respect nature) to Sailor Bar without the intrusion of cars.
