Ruby's bar and bistro (formerly The Kiln) has been a part of Larne for decades

They serve good food and there's great entertainment at weekends whether you prefer a DJ or a live band such as Fusion Ruby's is the place to be. It was packed out over Christmas and new year

However the people of Larne have just found out that a proposal has been made to demolish Ruby's and build houses

Over the past few years Larne has lost many great venues this way. The Highways Hotel (houses built) Rafters Nightclub (now a snooker hall) The Bailie (closed years ago and never reopened) The Cellars (demolished) The Thatch and Dan Campbell's (demolished for hotel but no hotel ever built) The Eagle (turned into apartments) The original Curran Court hotel (demolished and apartments built)

It's worth noting that there is plenty of places in Larne that would be suitable for building houses and apartments without destroying yet another venue in the town
