The Issue

Rosemount gardens is an assisted living facility within Bathgate West Lothian. They provide a cafe and restaurant for residents and public use although they aren’t allowed to advertise, so a lot of the public wasn’t aware this service existed.
This cafe has been running for a number of years and provides a much needed social space for residents and a wide variety of different community groups.
It has full disabled access and facilities which is a great place for disabled individuals to have a social and safe space to be able to participate in the community.
West Lothian council are now withdrawing funding for this service and claiming residents have their own access to cooking facilities but completely missing the actual social aspect of the cafe itself. It brings people together within an inclusive space. The staff have only been given 2 weeks notice before closure. With the correct advertisement the public would have known about the cafe and therefore used it as it’s suitable for a wide variety of people.
The space itself holds groups where individuals can come to socialise, meet new people and have new interactions. This is a vital service for the elderly and disabled people within our community.  I’m positive with the correct advertisement this cafe would have flourished but instead it’s being left to rot because of West Lothian council. Please support this and share as far as possible.
