I am petitioning as a concerned citizen of Rockwell City, deeply troubled by the potential closure of our Fire Department - the heart and shield of our community. Its dismissal threatens not only the livelihood of brave firefighters who dedicated their lives to the service, but also our safety and security in case of emergencies.

Our Fire Department employs numerous local residents, all who risk their lives in the face of danger every time they suit up. Each firefighter, apart from their relentless bravery and dedication, also has a family to support. The closure of our fire department will inevitably result in job loss and will strip them of their deserved pensions. It's a gutting truth we can no longer turn a blind eye to.

The National Fire Protection Association reports that fire departments respond to an average of 1 fire every 24 seconds in the United States. (NFPA, 2019). Taking this fact into consideration, the thought of our community without a fire department doesn't just feel like an uncomfortable possibility – it's a terrifying reality that could affect every single one of us.

We must stand together and ensure these real-life heroes retain their jobs and that our safety is prioritized over budget cuts. Each signature on this petition brings us one step closer to securing the future of the Rockwell City Fire Department. Please extend your support and sign the petition.
