Save Rev. Brian Casey’s post as Minister of Springburn Church

The Issue

Ask Glasgow Presbytery,  Principal Clerk and the Church of Scotland Chief Officer to reconsider plans to cut ministerial staffing in the Springburn area of Glasgow and to secure the future of Rev. Brian Casey.

Rev. Brian works in a parish which is in the bottom 5% according to the social deprivation index and as such recognised by the Church as a “priority area” to be exempt from cuts. However, Glasgow Presbytery plan to cut ministerial staffing form 3 full time posts to 1.5.

Rev. Brian Casey has worked with asylum seekers, those in poverty, the bereaved, especially in infant death, drug policy and drug recovery, school chaplaincy and helped advocate for people with benefits and legal issues. His work has been recognised in the Scottish Parliament.

Two of Church of Scotland’s marks of mission are: “To respond to human need by loving service; To seek to transform unjust structures of society.”

Rev. Brian’s work is the perfect example of this kind of mission, it is the essence of what Church should be in the community. Please sign if you believe the Church should reconsider the cuts to this area of deprivation and secure Rev. Brian’s tenure as minister of Springburn Church.
