Save Regency Agoura Hills Stadium 8 from Demolition

The Issue

For decades, Regency Agoura Hills Stadium 8 has been a social hub for friends and families, stimulating local restaurants in the area and providing employment opportunities for community members young and old.

The threat of demolition comes at the demand to meet California’s newest RHNA demand of 318 new residences at the end of the decade. However, sites like the Colorful Garden Center would be a much more beneficial opportunity, given that the owner is ready to retire, with the site being dubbed as “perfect” by Mary Weisbrock of Save Open Space.

In a town with already very limited options for activities in a walkable range for youth, the loss of this theatre would be detrimental to the social infrastructure of Agoura Hills. The theater gives us on opportunity to socialize and pause from our busy lives to connect with one another.

Furthermore, in a time emerging from the quarantine direct-to-streaming releases, members of this community crave to share cinema in person again with a quality of immersion not achievable on a screen at home.

The decision about the closure is said to be made within the month. If you are someone who is dismayed at the widespread closure of brick-and-mortar stores and wants to keep low-cost activities alive in our community, we implore you to make your opinion heard !
