The Issue

We need your help.

This young man is called Redd and this is him under St John's Oak, in his garden. You may have heard of St John's Oak because LV Insurance have applied to have this 200+ year old protected oak cut down because they say it is causing subsidence to the house, even though there is no evidence to support this.

Sadly, Redd endures many health issues. He has both visual and hearing impairments and is non-verbal but enjoys sitting under St John's Oak and watching the lights on the vehicles that go past, as he is able to view moving lights. Redd also has epilepsy which is triggered by stress and he alleviates stress by being in the garden, playing under the tree.

The oak tree is not only about positive mental well-being for Redd, he is unable to eat a normal healthy diet so he relies on supplements to keep him healthy. Vitamin D created from sunlight is vital to his physical health. The tree canopy creates enormous shade over the garden, meaning he can be outside for longer periods of time absorbing filtered amounts of sunlight which his body converts into lots of vitamin D. If the tree is felled, Redd would need to wear extra clothing and excessive amounts of high factor suntan lotion, which would mean his body would absorb virtually no sunlight what-so-ever therefore reducing his vitamin D levels which is vital for healthy bone growth, muscles, and teeth. Without the tree he would suffer sun blindness, and need to wear sunglasses which would reduce Redd’s functional vision further.

LV Insurance have no evidence to support the felling of St John's Oak and they don't want to help Redd - but we can. Public pressure on LV can save Redd's tree. Please, please, sign the petition below, it will take two minutes of your time and please share it far and wide to your friends, families and colleagues.

Please help Redd, collectively we have the power to save his oak tree.

Thank you for your support.
