Save RedCycle Soft Plastic Recycling

Save RedCycle Soft Plastic Recycling
The issue
News reports this week reveal that Redcycle, the popular soft plastic recycling program that uses Coles and Woolworths drop off points around the country to collect and recycle plastic bags and other loose soft plastic items, has been unable to recycle since June 2022.
A fire at the company's facility in Melbourne has meant that soft plastic stock has been stockpiled for months. Coles and Woolworths can no longer process the items and have either removed the collection bins or will divert soft plastics to garbage end points.
We need our trusted brands, Coles and Woolworths, and government, to help restore this popular recycling program and make it even better. According to news reports, Redcycle had been collecting up to 5 million soft plastic items a day, yet many people still don't even know about the program.
This is a call for corporations that produce and distribute soft plastics and their governing bodies to step in and save this program. We want a commitment that it will be running again as soon as possible and even expanded to handle more soft plastics.
