The Issue

We are calling to preserve Radio Humber (96.9 FM), an essential platform for emerging broadcasters, diverse music, and community voices.

Radio Humber has been a vital part of the community for over 50 years, providing an invaluable learning experience for students in the radio broadcasting program and serving as a hub for independent artists and diverse voices. The station fosters creativity, professional growth, and connection between students and listeners across Toronto and beyond. Its potential closure or reduction in resources would be a significant loss to both the Humber community and the broader radio landscape in Canada.

We believe that Radio Humber plays a crucial role in:

  • Offering hands-on education and training for aspiring broadcasters
Showcasing local and independent artists, giving them a unique platform
  • Providing high-quality, diverse, and community-driven content
  • Contributing to the cultural and artistic landscape of Toronto and beyond
  • We urge the administration and governing bodies to recognize the importance of this station and ensure its continued operation by maintaining the funding and resources necessary for its success.
  • Radio Humber is also the only station in Canada that broadcasts all Canadian Radio.
  • Their diverse On-Air catalogue showcases new and emerging Canadian artists and features content performed and recorded by the program's students and faculty of the world-class Lakeshore music program.
