Save Potters Bar's Green Belt

The Issue

The Green Belt in Hertsmere is under immense pressure, with multiple applications from developers for huge housing and other developments.  We believe the Green Belt is a vital benefit for local residents and wildlife which must be protected at all costs.

Hertsmere Borough Council does not have a current local plan in place which we believe hampers their ability to consider major planning applications in a strategic way.  It is our strong view that no applications for major housing or other development schemes should be considered until there is an agreed local plan in place.   The Council’s current timetable is that this will be completed in April 2027 and we call for  to be accelerated.

In the meantime, we, the undersigned, call upon Hertsmere Borough Council to refuse all planning applications for new developments on Green Belt Land.

We further call upon Hertsmere Borough Council not to allow Green Belt sites to be included in the Local Plan.
