Save Portland's Historic Meier & Frank Santaland & Monorail

This petition had 1,706 supporters

Those of us who grew up in the Portland area are mourning the loss of our beloved Meier and Frank Santaland - particularly the monorail.

A group of concerned Portlander's has asked Macy's Corporation to please sell or donate Santaland and its Monorail to a local non-profit dedicated to its preservation on going operation.

Santaland is in the process of being dismembered and in a few days it will be nothing but a fading memory. Please speak up - now - this weekend - to help put a stop to this. Please share with Macy's your memories of Santaland and your concerns about its loss to Portland.

Let Macy's know that it's your desire for Santaland, whatever parts might remain, to stay in Portland where it belongs. Tell Macy's that you want Santaland preserved and restored and brought back to life here in Portland - so that your children and grandchildren and generations to come can have the joy of visiting Santaland.

Macy's acquired custody of Santaland & its Monorail when it bought Meier & Frank's assets. With Macy's closing of the original Meier & Frank downtown store, and with no plans to reinstall Santaland or the Monorail in any other local stores, it became Macy's moral and social responsibility to release Santaland into the hands of the citizens of Portland, so that it could be preserved.

Tell Macy's that its disregard of the history of Meier and Frank and our beloved Santaland & Monorail will not be forgotten when making future decisions where to shop.
