Petition: Save Perth's Sports & Leisure Centre at Glover Street
26/00448/FLM|Erection of residential care home, community hub, staff facilities, associated parking and landscaped areas|Play Area Perth Leisure Pool Glover Street Perth
26/00449/IPM|Residential development comprising flatted blocks, installation of SUDS, landscaping and associated works (in principle)|Perth Leisure Pool Glasgow Road Perth PH2 0HZ
Help keep Perth’s Sports and Leisure Centre at Glover Street. This valued community facility supports health, wellbeing, sport, fitness, and social connection for residents across Perth and the surrounding area.
The proposal to move key leisure services to Thimblerow, where there would be no onsite parking for patrons, risks making these services harder to access for families, older residents, disabled users, sports clubs, and regular visitors who depend on convenient facilities.
The Leisure Pool currently attracts around 400,000 visits each year, showing just how important it is to the wider community. Refurbishing the existing pool, or providing a replacement pool at Glover Street, would protect an established, accessible location with strong transport links and parking already in place.
Keeping swimming, gym, and leisure services at Glover Street would avoid unnecessary disruption, make better use of existing public assets, and help prevent further public money being spent on a move that many local people neither need nor want.
Retaining services at Glover Street would also help protect the much-needed Thimblerow parking facility, with approximately 200 spaces, which is well used every day by visitors, residents, businesses, and city-centre users.
We are asking Perth and Kinross Council to keep leisure services at Glover Street and to pursue refurbishment or replacement options on the existing site. This is the practical, accessible, and community-focused choice for Perth.
Please sign this petition, share it with your friends, family, clubs, neighbours, and contacts, and ask them to do the same. Every signature helps show the strength of public support for keeping Perth’s Sports and Leisure Centre at Glover Street.
