Save Performing Arts In Indiana!
The Issue
The state of Indiana has passed a law, active from August 2025, to cut off all funding for the arts.
All children should be given the opportunity to expand their artistic and intellectual abilities. Art opens the door to countless possibilities, and it's unwise and immoral to take such a gift away.
Without the opportunity to express themselves through such mediums, children are losing a crucial part of their identity. The distinguished art teachers throughout all of Indiana would suffer from the absence of bright young minds. Not only that, but adolescents would not have such achievements included in their certificate when they graduate high school. This could affect the lives of thousands of minors who only wish for the opportunity to portray their internal thoughts and emotions through their work.
Now is the time to act, before the funding for all art programs in Indiana's school districts are cut off. In August 2025, the new school year will have already begun. All artistic students who had already begun their journey through the world of art, whether it be tangible, audible, or another form of expression, would have had the opportunity to expand their skills taken from them. And those who had been hoping for an introduction to the arts with the instruction of educators would be unable to do so.
Personal Story #1:
I have struggled with anxiety since I was in elementary school, and it eventually developed into depression once I reached middle school. I truly believe that music is what saved my life. Without orchestra, I would have never learned about the complexity and wonders of the violin.
Please, help keep the fate of future generations of bright minds separate from political viewpoints.
