BBMP offers illegal road, but Citizens demand park instead!
CITIZENS HAVE THE SOLUTION
Sustainable Development - meets all needs, avoids lake buffer zone and rajakaluve violations!
- Access to ancient Sri Muneshwara Swamy Temple from Whitefield Main Road
- Green Development of Public & Heritage areas
- Even vested interests (real estate) get access to Whitefield Main Road
In Detail:
Earlier, we got an analysis of the proposed illegal road done by urban planners, and from their perspective, the road had no benefits for the area in general. Pls see: https://www.facebook.com/SavePattandurAgraharaLake/posts/1136393183565133
So, we decided we'll also put our heads together to find a solution that meets most, if not all needs, most importantly, the ones of the vested interests, ie., the real estate sharks that are driving this illegal project through corruption at high places. This is the outcome and it has come out rather awesome:
Citizen’s Proposal for Development of the entire area, to meet the connectivity needs to Sri Muneshwara Swamy temple, but also to develop the entire area’s Public Commons and Kharab Lands as Public Parks to provide lung space and sustainable Development for the area.
- The popular Sri Muneshwara Swami temple is centuries old, its a heritage site, and it requires a good access.
- Luckily, the Historic Pattandur Agrahara Village land (Survey 1 - Gramathana) is located nearby. A modern road developed via the old village area, connecting the Abhayadhama Road will provide good motorable access to the temple from the Whitefield Main Road.
- Survey-1 also houses the heritage Bungalow of DS White, the founder of Whitefied. This area along with the historic village could be developed into a wonderful Heritage Park for Whitefield.
- Survey-17 is a Kharab Commons land with beautiful rock formations and heritage trees. This can also form a beautiful Public Park.
- The lands acquired for the illegal road alignment, since it belongs to the BBMP now, can be transferred to the BBMP Parks or Lakes dept, and they could set up a Lake Tree Park here, planting native trees, and a walking path can lead to Sri Muneshwara Swami temple from the Athashri Road, via the park.
- Thus, the problem of connectivity to the temple, and green development of this zone can be met through this proposal of joint and networked development of Lands acquired for the road project, Survey-17 and Survey-1. Whitefield is a concrete jungle, and such a green zone is both welcome as well as essential for Whitefield.
WIN-WIN FOR ALL?
