This speaks volumes about either the efficiency or abilities of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) officials, or their connivance and complicity with Vested interests! Or both!
In the RMP 2015 Masterplan, the authorities actually left out the entire Pattandur Agrahara Lake. Can you believe it? An entire lake!
A heritage lake dating back to 1043AD commissioned by the great Emperor Rajendra Chola himself, and which is clearly featured in in every single map from 1876 Survey of the British, onwards, and features in every Revenue map and record!
And in its place, they cunningly placed a road instead. The sheer audacity of this is mind-numbing!
This is the kind of influence land sharks have on the Karnataka Govt! They can make lakes and waterbodies disappear, and make roads take their place, to boost up the market value of their land parcels which again are ill-acquired by encroaching on public lands / wetlands and grazing lands, which have all disappeared from public maps.
It is sheer luck that the RMP 2031 Masterplan was drafted by a better set of people, that the lake was reinstated in the maps!
But the vested interests do not give up. They keep piling political and money pressure on the local govt to implement the RMP 2015 'mistake', before the RMP 2031 comes into effect, and all their nefarious designs are foiled!
Let us not allow their efforts to hijack public commons to succeed! Let us protest loud and clear!
