The Government had reassured us that this law amendment would never be used for NEW projects! R Rudraiah, secretary at the Department of Water and Minor Irrigation, said the government will not allow any roadworks, but could not prevent existing works or upgrades.
Now, they are going back on their word and using this amendment for proposed road projects!
Normally, the citizens of Bengaluru are known for their immediate mobilization against such mala fide laws, but this is one instance where we have failed! We need to wake up from our stupor, and immediately campaign for the repeal of this amendment which now threatens all the lakes of Karnataka!
We need to join hands and launch a concerted campaign to force the Govt to repeal this amendment! We need to hold protests, hold social media campaigns, we need to make sufficient noise! We need to bring the Govt to it's senses!
We should demand that the clause 14(iii) of Karnataka Act No 15 of 2018 KTCDA Amendment Act of 2018, is repealed immediately!
