SAVE P-22 and Los Angeles Mountain Lions by Boycotting Sotheby's

The Issue

If you're sick of Trump and his minions attacking every part of our lives, you're in the right place.  P-22, our Hollywood mountain lion, and all the bobcats, deer, raccoons, hawks, owls, and other animals we share our hillsides with are at serious risk from destruction by greedy realtors and developers and we need your help!

Blinded by greed, slimy Sotheby's Realtor Alison MacCracken (who is proudly, grossly, a Trumpette, see this blog post for more details) has for months been actively and aggressively lying to hillside residents about the city of Los Angeles' long-overdue wildlife corridors ordinance and trying to kill it. According to her email listserv, she has even hired lobbyists to go after the city council:

EKA was founded by the family of disgraced and convicted city councilmember Mitch Englander, which should tell you all you need to know about their ethical makeup.

Actum is run by apparently shameless former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and former Speaker of the State Assembly, slimy lobbyist Fabian Nunez, as well as lobbyist John Ek, who is profiled here as having direct access to all the members of the city council. If you're not sickened by this, you're not paying attention. These are the types of people responsible for all the corruption at LA city hall... and they get off scott free.

They were even trying to buy off the Los Angeles City Attorney candidate Hydee Feldstein Soto with a fundraiser happening AT THE EXACT SAME TIME AS P-22 DAY at Griffith Park.  (Though the city attorney fundraiser is now apparently cancelled):

Alison MacCracken's LinkedIn profile says it all, she specializes in "downsizing, death, and demolition," which means she preys on the elderly, sells their homes after they die, demolishes them and builds lotline-to-lotline mansions.

Which means she profits from the destruction of wildlife habitat and will do anything to stop us from protecting it.

The proposed wildlife ordinance is a common sense measure (refresh this link to see video) designed to keep developers from ravaging our beautiful hills, to prevent NEW lotline-to-lotline mega-mansions, and to simply make a little space for animals to move around and thrive. Despite MacCracken's lies, it doesn't affect existing homes at all. If you lose your house in a fire or another disaster, there are already regulations in place that guide rebuilding (see Los Angeles Municipal Code, section 12.23.A.5 called "Restoration of Damaged Non-conforming Buildings"). This wildlife ordinance won't change those existing rules in any way.

Los Angeles Councilwoman Nithya Raman and Councilman Paul Koretz are the main backers of this ordinance. City staff have been working on this since it was introduced it all the way back in 2014. While MacCracken falsely claims this is being rushed through, the City Planning Department has held numerous public meetings here in the hillsides about it since 2018, some of the presentations from which can be found here. Here are the Frequently Asked Questions answered by the Planning Department.  Here is the Biodiversity Fact Sheet, answering why this is scientifically important to our animals and plants.

Alison MacCracken, among many other insanely enormously buildings also represents 9650 Cedarbrook, in Beverly Hills, the $250,000,000 mega-mansion which she is billing as "the largest property ever permitted in the City of LA." This is the kind of mega-mansion she wants built all over our hillsides.

She supporters fauxDem/actual Republican mega-developer Rick Caruso for Mayor, who, if he wins, will sell off every last bit of open space in the city of Los Angeles.

Seriously, how much money is enough?

Greed is going to kill us all if we don't stand up to it now. We can spare a little extra room to hold onto our quality of life, slow down the bulldozers, stop toppling all our gorgeous trees, and protect the wildlife we need to maintain a healthy ecosystem. If ecosystems collapse, humanity will not be far behind. The New York Times reported in March 2022 that California's biodiversity is the most at risk in the nation, due in no small part to a frenzy of over-development.

If we lose this fight, we lose our hillsides forever.

The Bel Air/Beverly Crest Neighborhood Council has been supporting the wildlife corridors effort for years. The Hillside Federation, representing 44 resident and homeowner associations with 250,000 constituents, is "strongly supporting" it.

This petition then is a call for a global BOYCOTT OF SOTHEBY'S INTERNATIONAL REALTY, who apparently supports MacCracken's lies, and a demand that the California Department of Real Estate investigate Alison MacCracken for potentially defrauding the public and immediately revoke her license.

We must stop the reckless and greedy corporate destruction of our world before it's too late.  Please sign and share.
