My name is Riley Mollenkopf. 

I grew up in Orrville, I attended Orrville Public Schools my entire educational career. My junior and senior year I attended a trade school, so that I didn’t have to be in the halls of Orrville more than what I had to be. I recently spoke out and shared my experience at Orrville High School, while being a senior there still.

My freshman year Mike Hamsher took advantage of me, and many other girls right in front of my eyes. I went to administration and seeked help after sitting with it for some time. I was told, “Those are some big allegations, that you do not wanna make.”, “He is a very friendly person, that’s just who he is.” , ect. 

I was not given the opportunity to get a police report, a change of class, a LOA, nothing. I was sent back to class time after time. 

One of my friends showed me a video posted on Youtube of a former Student, Jessica West, sharing her story and experience with Mike Hamsher. It was oddly similar to mine, I’ve never met Jessica. So I knew this wasn’t the first time he’s done this. I reached out to her, she encouraged me to speak out. I did not. 

A little girl By the name of Hanna was sexually assaulted in the back of her classroom at Orrville Middle School by another classmate. The school failed her. 

When I heard about Hanna, I instantly knew enough was enough. Orrville has been protecting the boys and men of the community for far too long, and I shared my story on Tik Tok. 

I started spreading awareness about what happened to Jessica, Hanna, and I. Lots of creators, advocates and users blew it out of the water! We got so much more social media support and attention than we did in our own town. 

Orrville tried to avoid it at all costs, but had no other option but to do an investigation and Mike was placed on a long paid leave. Mike was found guilty of sexual harassment on multiple accounts, by THREE INDEPENDENT investigations.

Past teachers who also had me in class stood on a stage defending this man, and dismissed me. Parents of my friends. Students I graduated with. I received more bullying, threats and horrid messages than support, mostly by the associates of Mike Hamsher’s circle. 

Since then a lot of people have came forward with the same thing, and different tragedies with their time at Orrville. 

Nothing more has been done. 

Mike will be returning to Orrville High School On Monday, April 17th. 

Orrville City Schools spent a nice chunk of money installing cameras in Mikes teaching quarters to, “ensure student safety”.

What innocent man needs cameras monitoring him with your children? Your siblings? Your cousins? Your grandkids? Your nieces and nephews? 

This man does not need to be anywhere near children ever again. 

It is time for a change. 

It is time for safety. 

It is time to take back our voice.
