Save our Students; Reduce EdTech in Middletown, NJ
The Issue
The 1:1 computer plan in Middletown, NJ schools needs to be reconsidered. Current research shows that computers are not promoting proper brain development for sustained learning. Learning HOW TO USE technology in a computer class is fine; learning THROUGH technology for all subjects is not working. Test scores are down, cognitive capacity has diminished. Meanwhile we are spending ever increasing amount of money to keep every child in front of a computer, despite the reduction in test scores. As taxpayers, our returns on investment in education are down. This is becoming a national issue; 16 states have legislation limiting technology. Many countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland) are moving back towards analog learning due to low test scores and reduced attention spans. Now that we know better, we need to do better. It’s time to choose a new direction for our schools and save our children's’ education. Middletown NJ must reconsider computers in the classroom and put our children back on the path to success.
If you have concerns about the 1:1 computer program and want further investigation into the financial and educational implications, please sign this petition so we can further the conversation.
