Save Our Seafront - More Bins for Lee-On-The-Solent

The Issue

Our glorious seafront, Lee-On-The-Solent, is one of the gems of the south coast.

But it is being let down by a serious lack of rubbish bins.

On sunny days, especially now the summer season is here, the bins along the beach are overflowing. Stacks of chip boxes, bottles, food packaging and other waste are left piled high beside them.

By morning, the sea breeze has blown debris across the footpaths, foxes and other wildlife have pulled rubbish apart, and litter is left blocking the promenade, filling wildflower beds and, worst of all, ending up in the sea.

(And causing a much bigger job for our excellent refuse workers!)

We are calling on Lee’s Councillors, Stevyn Ricketts and Graham Burgess, Gosport Borough Council, and our MP Caroline Dinenage to take urgent action and fund more bins along the beach.

This is not an issue for the next election manifesto; it is an issue for now. It does not require another strategy, consultation or delay. It simply requires local taxpayers’ money to be put back into practical services for the people of Lee.

Whether that means installing additional permanent bins, trialling large skip-sized waste bags, or placing spare open-top wheeled bins at peak times, something must be done.

This is not only damaging Lee’s reputation; it is harming our local biodiversity and putting unnecessary waste into our marine environment. We only have one planet, and the council must show that residents’ concerns are being heard.

Please sign & share so Gosport Borough will notice and help us keep Lee clean!
