We, the students, parents, teachers, and community members of McAllen ISD, believe that our school librarians are an integral part of our educational system. They are not just keepers of books; they are mentors, educators, and guides who connect us to literacy, curriculum resources, and a world of knowledge.

Unfortunately, budget cuts threaten to diminish the role of certified school librarians at our schools. This petition is a plea to the McAllen ISD school board and the McAllen ISD Superintendent of Schools to prioritize the presence of a certified librarian at each campus. Our librarians are the heart of our schools, fostering a love for reading, writing, providing vital resources for learning, and creating spaces that promote exploration and discovery.
