For twenty years, I have served as an educator in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, witnessing a painful pattern of disinvestment. From the rebranding of Pickett Middle School and Wister Elementary to the closure of Germantown High, I have seen how losing local schools fractures our community. Now, the proposed closure of Fitler Academics Plus threatens the very heart of our neighborhood.

Built in 1897, Fitler is more than a landmark; it is a pillar of academic excellence and parental involvement. Closing it wouldn't just erase history—it would dismantle the social fabric of our community. We urge decision-makers to reject the current Facilities Plan and instead invest in revitalizing Fitler for the 21st century.
