The Issue

Protect Our Children’s Education and demand Scottish Borders Council  Build a New Eyemouth Primary, Don’t Move Pupils into the High School

We, the undersigned parents, carers, and residents of Eyemouth and the surrounding communities, strongly oppose the proposal to permanently relocate Eyemouth Primary School pupils into Eyemouth High School.

We believe this plan fails to serve the best interests of our children’s education, wellbeing, or development. A shared campus of this kind—forcing up to 300 primary pupils into a secondary school environment—offers no educational benefit and risks creating an overcrowded and unsuitable learning space for both age groups.

Our children deserve a purpose-built primary school that meets their needs, supports their growth, and provides an environment tailored to early learning and play.

We call on Scottish Borders Council to:

Reject any plan that places primary pupils permanently within the high school building.
Commit to delivering a new-build primary school next to the existing site—mirroring the successful design of Earlston Primary, integrated with the nursery, family centre, and destination play park.
Work collaboratively with parents and the local community to review alternative costings and explore achievable, community-backed solutions.
Our community is already taking proactive steps to prepare costed plans for a new primary school to demonstrate what can be achieved with ambition, transparency, and genuine local engagement.

Eyemouth’s children deserve a school that’s designed for them not a compromise that diminishes both the primary and secondary learning environments.

Please sign to show your support for a new-build Eyemouth Primary and to keep our high school focused on secondary education where it belongs.

NOW is the time to act and take the opportunity to work together to ensure our Primary Children get the best learning environment possible. Our Children are our future, not an opportunity to save money.
