The Orchestra students at North High are shocked to find out that next year our room may be getting swapped with the choir room. unfortunately for us, the choir room is too small for our orchestra and would result in many problems for us. over 50 people would be in both Concert and Symphony Orchestra.

The issues with moving rooms are many. firstly, there are large concrete risers that would cause many difficulties. the risers are not nearly wide enough to fit a small cello, let alone a standard bass. with not enough room the large instruments are at risk of falling over and being damaged. With school cellos costing around $1000, and basses cost around $3000. That’s not to mention personal student grade instruments which can cost well over $10,000. this isn’t even the most expensive orchestra instrument either. Harps, are quite large, (way too large for the choir room) and can cost over $30,000! purely in instrument cost alone moving rooms is a bad idea.

Acting now is key because the school plans to make the switch next year, which is barely enough time to prepare students for such a change.
