The longevity of our local KAL leisure centres are severely at risk with 8 out of 10 gyms at risk of closure in 2024 with KAL funding being cut to 2.55 million.

A 6-week public led consultation has been approved by our Kirklees Cabinet members on Tuesday 26/9 which is going live on Friday this week. 

The impact on KAL members, KAL staff & their instructors is huge & potentially devastating.

The lack of local swimming pool provision for schools and our families, the impact on physical health & mental health & well-being which will undoubtedly put KAL members health at increased risk and the associated impact to our NHS and mental health services are just a few number of reasons why our services need to remain open.  

 The impact on the loss of service provision is devastating to the local community and its members which is why I urge you to take part in the consultation process from Friday 29/9/2023.
