SAVE OUR HOSPITAL Douglas Memorial is the solution for hospital care in the Niagara Region

SAVE OUR HOSPITAL Douglas Memorial is the solution for hospital care in the Niagara Region
The Issue
We urge all residents of Fort Erie, surrounding areas in the Regional Municipality of Niagara who use the Urgent Care or Emergency Departments at Niagara Health sites to sign this document.
Please provide your full name, address and phone number.
As individuals we are entitled to local, accessible public healthcare and hospital services, where we live and in a timely manner. By uniting our voices, we can demonstrate the urgent need for action and we compel relevant authorities to prioritize and maintain the Urgent Care Centre's in Fort Erie and Port Colborne and in-patient beds and surgeries in Welland and to take into consideration the needs and accessibility issues of all concerned.
We, the undersigned residents of Fort Erie, Port Colborne, Welland and surrounding areas are calling upon our politicians and healthcare authorities at Niagara Health to urgently address the critical need for accessible urgent and emergency care services in our community. We in Fort Erie deserve the same access to 24/7 care as the citizens of Niagara Falls & St. Catharines. As concerned citizens, we are experiencing challenges in accessing essential medical care due to long wait times for diagnostic testing, emergency department waits, closure of overnight hours of urgent cares, off load delays of ems patients.
Access to local urgent, emergency and primary healthcare is a fundamental right for every individual. This is why Douglas Memorial Hospital needs to be restored to a full-service hospital. Without local access, members of our community are forced to travel long distances, resulting in increased financial strain and often endure extended wait times, or even forego necessary medical attention altogether. In Fort Erie there is no local affordable transportation, and the cost is prohibitive to many. This poses a significant barrier to maintaining our health and well-being, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, low-income families, and individuals with chronic illnesses. If this applies to you, please sign the petition.
