Donating at the change.org petition does not go to our group!

Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation's plan IS NOW underway to REMOVE the revered 1906 Pratt Truss Bridge  at Old Stone Fort State Park in Coffee County and replace it with a 5 million dollar concrete structure. Loosing a valuable community asset and history! PLUS damaging the most biodiverse river in NORTH AMERICA! WE CAN STOP THIS DESTRUCTION OF OUR HISTORY AND RIVER!

  1. Repairing the bridge for pedestrians will cost 90%LESS than replacing it! Saves huge taxpayer $$!
  2. NO ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE will occur with repairing the bridge!
  3. There is a NEW vehicular entrance built to the campground  making a new bridge UNNECESSARY and a waste of taxpayer $$$!
4.The 1906 Bridge is a National Historic Register eligible bridge and should not be touched.
    5. The citizens are OVERWHELMINGLY AGAINST removing the bridge. County government voted unanimously to keep it!
    6. The 1906 bridge provides excellent access for mobility challenged visitors to the park assets on both sides of the river. As well as a serene pedestrian destination.
     7. A new bridge will be devastatingly harmful FOR DECADES to the fragile ecology of our Duck River, the most ecologically diverse on the North American continent.
    8. NO PUBLIC MEETINGS HAVE BEEN HELD FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT!
    9. A HUGE number of both citizens and visitors alike have expressed their outrage and disapproval of the current plan.
