Save Our Cash Society

The Issue

More and more people on a daily basis are finding it hard to find locations that are willing to accept cash as a means of financial payment. The likes of Ireland's Aviva Stadium whop are apparently stating "There will be no cash accepted", is placing upon people, a new form of modern discrimination. They being the victims of it.

There are six main reason why the move to a greater cashless society should be considered very bad.

  1. Lack of privacy: Transactions made through digital card methods means that citizens can be easily state and private company monitored and tracked. This form of tracking raises privacy concerns and further limit individuals' financial freedom. One only has to look towards China and how it's citizens are digital treated and punished through a digital credit system, to see how such things can further creep into other states through disguised forms.

  2. Exclusion of certain segments of the population: Not everyone has access to or is comfortable using digital financial tools. This can result in exclusion of certain segments of the population, such as elderly citizens, unemployed, ordinary citizens that have already used cash and possess no back cards as they don't qualify to get one or don't want one, the infirm, dying or those without any or greater access to technology.

  3. Vulnerability to cyber attacks: Digital financial systems can be vulnerable to hacking and cyber attacks, which can result in financial losses or identity theft. Only recently, school colleges have come under cyber attack. Before that, Ireland's HSE (Health system setup) was very severely hacked. Private companies have been massively hacked also, with hundreds of thousands having their digital stored details stolen, Relying on just a digital form of payment method is not only foolhardy, it's an open invitation as the move to a cashless society occurs, for hackers to further up their antics. They will see institutions and businesses as increasing further challenges to eventually successfully surmount. Citizens again, will be victimised as this increasingly occurs.

  4. Dependence on technology: As governments race towards or allow a cashless society to further come about, they and associated businesses rely heavily on technology and infrastructure, which can be unreliable or unavailable during power outages or other disruptions. Let's be honest. Some areas of a state might not even have proper digital ability to better operate through lack of fibre optic lines, other equipment or even barely in place, cannot operate at the digital speeds that are required as technology progresses!

  5. Lack of physical alternative: In a cashless society, where there is no physical backup if the digital system fails, this can lead to utter chaos for those operating a cashless gain system. Suppose the power goes in a building, shop or stadium! What if a stadium is hacked and, on becoming aware of it, they have to shut down all systems immediately for security and damage limitation reasons? Citizen are then left with completely no ability to pay for goods wanted or needed. From drink, clothing, medicines or even basic food items they daily need!

  6. Financial Uncertainty:  Any deliberate shutting down done by financial gathering setups such as a shop, restaurant, stadium, etc, will immediately create uncertainty. By effect, a financial crisis will have been instigated. Digital finance gathering operations will completely lose out. Such losses can be at a local level or, if a setup is part of a franchise, there can be dire consequences on a national level. Is the setup connected to shares bought or sold on stockmarket? A knock-on domino effect can be devastating - and not just at a local level. What if foes, foreign or domestic, wish to blackmail a state, group or business? What if they wish to cripple a nation's economy or attack (for simple example) a banking institution direct - or by starving it of funds coming from digital only, wish to undermine connected operating businesses?

These are only six reasons. Other people can possibly think of more. This is why, we, as a united people, must insist that all setups desiring us to continue financial payments, must insist that beyond card payment systems, cash must remain as an alternative form of payment at every payment location. Those not willing to accept cash, could be greater considered as a location to avoid through inconvenience caused or as a form of protest against state and private businesses attempts to take everyone too great towards a total cashless society.

We, the undersigned, wish to voice our objection to any undemocratic state created, business pressure created, new form of discrimination tactic that is becoming more and more apparent and applied, in increasing areas of Irish and world society today.
