The New York City housing authority (nycha) has made a recent lease change . They are trying to ban all bikes (regular pedal bikes excluded) . Nycha blames this on safety precautions, but in fact they are working with the police to get bikes off of the streets . The police constantly hassle the tenants ,and have even taken bikes (That are not illegal ). Some bikes returned others not . Banning bikes in an area where bike riding brings togetherness and peace is mind blowing. Summer is approaching and I believe that it’s unfair to ban bikes in homes of people who pay rent . The police aren’t taking bikes from white communities.  Never in my 25 years as a tenant  in nycha has this been an issue .if you are against the ban of e bikes and gas bikes in nycha grounds and inside of the homes please sign this petition and stand up for our right to bike life
