We all, with our dogs, come and enjoy these trees and space morning and night.  For many of us, these trees are more than just nature's backdrop; they symbolize community and shared moments of joy, laughter, and companionship. It's a place where we gather, not only with our dogs but with our friends and family, strengthening bonds and nurturing our well-being, both human and canine alike. It is a place with a half basketball court for kids to come and run and play together, outside the surrounding structured sports. 

However, these cherished trees, some of which are estimated to be over 80 years old, and this free form play space, are at risk of being removed to make room for another football oval. While sports play a significant role in our community, this small area is surrounded by sports fields reserved for registered sports clubs. The unique charm of this park with its old-growth trees offers something that structured sports areas cannot – an unstructured space where creativity, nature, friendship and relaxation coexist in perfect harmony.

We call upon the Fremantle council to reconsider their decision remove these trees and explore alternative solutions that respect both the recreational needs of all our community, not just the registered sports clubs, and the intrinsic value of these trees.
