Save Otisville Correctional!

Save Otisville Correctional!
The Issue
Governor Hochul's 2024 proposal to close an additional five New York prisons is alarming, especially given the uncertainty over which prisons are being targeted. Otisville Correctional Facility plays a vital role in the economic health of Orange County.
Senator James Skoufis is no stranger to Otisville:
"In 2019, when former Governor Cuomo proposed shutting down several state prisons, I developed a plan to keep Otisville Correctional Facility open and operational. Two years later, in the final days of 2021’s budget negotiations, the Governor once again put OCF onto the chopping block. I went to bat for OCF once more, pushing right up until the eleventh hour to ensure Otisville was spared.
Why? I know how important this state-run facility is for the Otisville/Mount Hope community. OCF employs many constituents of mine and I know it remains central to the economic vitality of your community. The Governor’s approach to announcing prison closures left and right struck me as a shortsighted move—and a raw deal for Otisville.
Somehow, here we are once more. We've won this battle before and we'll win it again."
Don't let Governor Hochul take away your family's and our community's livelihood. Sign our petition and tell the Governor: Otisville Correctional STAYS OPEN.
