Save Oak Creek Golf Club

Save Oak Creek Golf Club
The Issue
When I started practicing at Oak Creek Golf Club at seven years old, I had no idea that the course would become the center of community that it is to me now.
Throughout my eight years of being a member, I have met countless dedicated, kind employees who I truly care about and many good friends who I have grown up with in our years together.
Now that Irvine Company is looking to turn Oak Creek into a village to attempt to meet housing needs, I feel like I am about to lose my second home.
Oak Creek isn't just special to me: it's a rare community space where children grow up, seniors socialize and play rounds, and families and couples gather. Replacing it would erase a space where everyone can come together.
Irvine Company is looking to build 3,100 new homes. If each home has two cars each, there will be roughly 6,000 new cars in the area. With this influx, traffic will slow down tremendously.
Along with the arrival of thousands of new people and the loss of hundreds of acres of green land, Irvine will grow increasingly more crowded. The loss of wildlife that currently resides at Oak Creek will also be disastrous.
Irvine has only 3 public golf courses. We understand the need for more housing in Irvine. But it should not come at the price of one of the few green spaces left in the city that matters to a whole community of people.
Irvine Company intends to finalize their building plan in 2026, but together, we can save it from becoming just another ordinary village.
Together we can make change.
