Save Neyland Public Toilets

The Issue

Neyland’s only Public Toilets (situated along the Marina behind Dale Sailing) are under threat of closure.  This is despite the fact that (according to the Western Telegraph 13th Dec 2023) 60 out of 68 of Pembrokeshire’s Public Toilets will be kept open.  The toilets serve the Brunel Trail which is very popular with walkers (including family strolls, hikers, and local dog walkers), runners and cyclists, and is the ONLY toilet until Haverfordwest. Because it is a level walk it attracts a lot of elderly walkers (with weak bladders!).  Also serving the Nature Reserve, Pembrokeshire Coast Path which passes nearby, the Marina, the busy Brunel Quay Car Park which all hosts events like the annual Fair and Pembrokeshire Duathlon, Neyland Promenade, the children’s Skatepark area, Green Lane slipway used by kayakers and small craft, and indeed NEYLAND itself. The toilets are also a much needed amenity for delivery drivers, Council workers (many of whom use the Car Park for lunch breaks), and tradesmen as well as leisure users. We understand the constraints on public spending but urge that Public Toilets here serve a basic human need and must have a rightful priority.
