The Issue

Update: Petition will not help anything even if it is brought up at Alderman meeting. Pickleball issue would have to be brought up by one of the alderpeople who voted "yes."

Community Petition

To the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Natchez:

We, the undersigned residents, taxpayers, business owners, visitors, and supporters of Natchez recreation respectfully ask the City of Natchez to reconsider its decision regarding dedicated pickleball courts and to work toward a permanent solution for the growing pickleball community in our city.

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing recreational activities in the country and has become an important source of exercise, community engagement, tourism, and intergenerational activity for people of all ages. In Natchez, participation continues to grow rapidly, demonstrating a clear need for safe, accessible, and properly designated courts.

We believe dedicated pickleball courts would:

- Promote healthy lifestyles and outdoor recreation

- Provide a positive activity for youth, adults, and seniors alike

- Increase community engagement and social connection

- Support tourism and local economic growth through tournaments and events

- Enhance the value and use of our public parks and recreational spaces

We respectfully request that city leadership:

1. Reconsider the recent decision against permanent pickleball courts

2. Work collaboratively with the pickleball and tennis communities to find a fair and sustainable solution

3. Explore available grants, partnerships, fundraising opportunities, and alternative locations if necessary

4. Prioritize the development of dedicated courts that meet the demonstrated demand in Natchez

This petition is not intended to divide our community, but rather to encourage constructive solutions that benefit the greatest number of citizens possible.

Natchez deserves modern recreational opportunities that reflect the interests and needs of its residents. We urge city leadership to support the continued growth of pickleball in our community.

Please sign and share this petition to help show community support for dedicated pickleball courts in Natchez.
