The Issue

My pitbull, a loyal and loving member of my family, is at risk of being destroyed by the police due to what they perceive as a threat. This situation has left me devastated and deeply concerned, not only for my pet's life but for the potential misunderstanding and mistreatment of other dogs like mine.

Recently, there has been an uptick in incidents where dogs, particularly breeds like XL bulldogs, are being unfairly targeted due to misconceptions about their behavior and nature. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, behavior is determined by a complex mix of environmental and genetic factors that cannot be generalized by breed alone. Targeting specific breeds perpetuates misunderstanding and does not effectively address the root causes of aggressive behavior, which can be better managed through responsible ownership and training.

My dog has never shown any aggression and is well-socialized with both people and other animals. Destroying her would not only be an unfounded action but a loss of a dearly loved family member and companion. This approach of singling out specific breeds for destruction needs to stop.

Instead, I propose that the authorities focus on promoting responsible pet ownership and education about animal behavior. By implementing community programs that provide training and resources for pet owners, we can cultivate a safer and more understanding community for both humans and pets.

Please join me in calling on the police to reconsider their decision and find a more humane approach to handling cases involving pets like mine. Sign this petition to save my pitbull and stand against breed-specific
